Encouraging Premature Sexualization

Last week in London a department store called Primark had children's bathing suits withdrawn from being sold. The bathing suits were pulled because they had padded bras on the bikini tops which were marketed towards 7 year old girls. It's absolutely ridiculous to put padding into a 7 year olds bathing suit top. It's disgusting and perverted to say the least. This is another way that society has tried to sexualize children and encourage them to grow up as fast as they can. It's sad to say but kids aren't being allowed to be kids anymore, their being taught to grow up fast. By having the padding put in the bikini is portraying that being sexy is the most important thing in a girls life. I'm confused i don't know how that even got approved to be produced, let alone be bought by a company and distributed to the store. What boggles me the most is the parents that purchased the bathing suit before it was withdrawn from the stores. You can't control the media and what's going to be produced but parents should know whats right from wrong and what the difference between a child and a women is. All clothing that's being produced with the intend to prematurely sexualize children is horrible and should be considered pedophilia. It may as well be and if not it's certainly encouraging those people more and more to act upon there desires. When young children are dressing older and being taught to be sexy so young. What happened to kids being kids and not being viewed and taught to be sexually desired and still be innocent and sweet? Society really needs to take a step back and look at what they're doing and causing to the children of today. A lot of them are going to have major psychological problems and it could have all been easily prevented if encouraging premature sexualization was never happening.

  1. This is disgusting. Girls that are 7 years old should not know that their breasts are so important. At age 7, the last thing on my mind was my breasts, especially not buying padded swimsuits. Girls this age barley have enough breast to fill out an unpadded bra. Parents should be ashamed of themselves. You should know better and know right from wrong. This is plain wrong to be putting young girls through this kind of stuff. The designer for these swimsuits is pathetic. The media really needs to step back and stop sexualizing children at such young ages. When they grow up, they are bombarded with growing up quickly. People please stop making them do it so fast. It is literally destroying our youth.

  2. This just goes to show what the media is doing to people. The fact that they would put padding in a 7 year olds bathing suit is ridiculous. I understand being in your late teens early 20's to do that because unfortunalty they werent gifted with the best bust size but come'on, doing that for children is unbelievable. Its sad to see that girls at such a young age are now expected to be and act a certain way, when they havent even seen or understand what the real world is like. Hopefully their parents can guide them in the right direction and keep them away from those bathing suits!

  3. I think sex in the media is totally out of the ordinary. Its as if everyone has to have it no matter how young they are. I mean don't we as humans have any class and morals. What happens to us outside the media is actually our own fault because with common sense you should not allow your children to be brainwashed by these things. I can believe this because I saw it with my own eyes another thing the BRATZ dolls were wearing thongs last summer. Yeah who would put a thong on a doll! The media has no respect for parents and their children. WE SHOULD COMNPLETELY STOP BUYING CRAP!

  4. Society is giving all the wrong ideas to young girls. It blows my mind how we can allow children to think it's important to be a sex object. why arent we protecting their innocents and youth? What they should be learning is what is truly important and that is to be a kid without worrying about looks or image flaws. I am ashamed of our society and believe we are truly screwing them up from the very beginning of their childhood! No wonder we have so many young girls that are pregnant or have so many eating disorders in this country. We have an unstable, unreliable, and a disgusting society for reasons just like this! These bathing-suits are inappropriate and I am happy to see them out of stores.

  5. This is unbelievable. Not only do I find it completely inappropriate for seven-year-old girls to wear any clothing that makes them look sexy, but the fact that this is achieved by “faking it” at an early age just sends the “not good enough” vibe way before they should be worrying about it. Girls need to be raised to love themselves and their bodies, not that they need to stuff their bras (or their bathing suits) in order to be beautiful. But seven years old is way too early to even think about that.
